March 28, 2015 - Hello Dear Ones: re GIGS IN LOS ANGELES AND SOUNDTRACK ALBUM

SHOOTIST FILMS latest feature THE OCEAN OF HELENA LEE http://theoceanofhelenalee.com will be premiering at THE AMERICAN CINEMATHEQUE on MAY 8, 2015. It will be screened on the opening night at THE EGYPTIAN THEATER followed by a Q&A conducted by award winning film maker ALLISON ANDERS and Oscar nominated screenwriter JOSH OLSON. It will then be shown all that week in the smaller SPIELBERG THEATER and closing at THE AERO THEATER as a double bill with our last film, AFTER THE TRIUMPH OF YOUR BIRTH. I have a supporting role in this film and the soundtrack features a half dozen new MM songs. I will be performing with my band after the screening on the opening night at THE EGYPTIAN and closing night at THE AERO. During the week run in the smaller SPIELBERG THEATER, I will perform a short acoustic set after the film each night. This local run will spearhead a VOD release and you will be able to rent the film digitally or buy the film AND soundtrack through VIMEO, ITUNES, AMAZON and CD BABY. More screenings and shows to follow if we can pick up steam, so spread the word! See you out there!
After this busy week, I will be heading to the UK to play an acoustic set at THE HAY ON WYE/HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN FESTIVAL on MAY 30.

Feb 19, 2013 - so our film AFTER THE TRIUMPH OF YOUR BIRTH has been hip pocketed by a fancy PR firm in paris who are going to expose it to release opportunities in europe, hopefully then springboarding a domestic release. meanwhile we are completing pre-production on and will begin shooting the NEW FILM in about two weeks. it will have a FULL SOUNDTRACK of original songs, which i alone will be singing, so you will have an MM album and a film to go with it. s'alright?

Aug 6 - thanks to all who came to the cinefamily last night for the preview screening of our independent feature film AFTER THE TRIUMPH OF YOUR BIRTH. and a special thanks to josh olson and larry karazsewski who presented the screening and engaged jim (the film's director) in a thoughtful Q&A. it was an epic night and so much fun. for those who weren't there, the band (tom dunne on drums who also stars in the film as "eli", jim on bass, jerry andrews on guitar, susan otten on bgv's) performed after the screening and here's the set list for set list collectors:

July 10 - hello dear ones! tickets have gone on sale for the sneak preview of our feature film AFTER THE TRIUMPH OF YOUR BIRTH at the cinefamily, august 5th, 7PM. there will be an intimate MM music set immediately following the screening. this special event will be presented by cinefamily board of directors members josh olson and larry karaszewski, both oscar nominated screenwriters and devout supporters of classic and independent cinema. there may be another screening in los angeles in september. i will provide details for this as soon as we have them. we are also reaching out to arrange screenings of the film with accompanying gigs in the uk and scandanavia. meanwhile the film will be available to watch on demand on this site (the film tab below) on August 6th, with soundtrack available on CDBABY. see you soon, love xxx mm

July 6 - hello dear ones! here is the brand new website for all maria mckee news and content. please spread the word on any forums and websites as people may be wondering where to go for mm info as our other site has gone dark. there is quite a bit of news as jim and i have completed production on our first independent feature film AFTER THE TRIUMPH OF YOUR BIRTH. we are preparing for a premiere in los angeles at the illustrious cinefamily (with a live performance) in august with the film and soundtrack being available online immediately following the premiere. i appear in the film as a member of the ensemble cast and helped to compose the soundtrack with jim, who wrote, directed, shot and edited. it was a life changing experience and has set us on a course as aspiring independent film makers, hosting all production in house at our studio SHOOTIST FILMS (FACEBOOK, TWITTER)
